Detailed Description
Our day trip by coach to Bodiam Castle and Rye leaves from the Canterbury Campus at 9am on Saturday 18 Oct.
After one hour's drive through the attractive landscape of West Kent we arrive at Bodiam Castle, a 800 year-old English castle complete with moat, drawbridge and ramparts, with rooms and chambers inside which you can explore. The cost of your admission to the castle is included in the overall ticket price! We will eat our lunch at Bodiam Castle (fruit, crisps and a canned drink or bottled water are included in the ticket price, but bring your own main item - sandwich, wrap etc).
After lunch we leave the castle, and head for the historic walled town of Rye, first stopping off at Rye Harbour and enjoying a walk to the beach, from where we can see a stretch of the English coastline and look out to the English Channel. After that, the coach takes us to the small town of Rye, and we will have about 2 hours to enjoy the historic streets and buildings as well as the small, traditional shops and boutiques. We plan to leave Rye after 4pm, aiming to get back to the Canterbury campus at 5.30pm.
