Course Description

WORKSHOP 1: PRE-HOSPITAL TRAUMA

Workshop 1 is a two day (or 17 contact teaching hours) course that will support the medical staff in dealing with life and limb threatening injuries on the field of play. This course will not cover basic musculoskeletal and other common sport injuries. It consists wholly of pre-hospital trauma skills which is in many cases overlooked.

The course is aimed at pre and post-graduate medical and allied health care professionals. This also includes Sports Scientists, Strength and Conditioning Coaches and Sports Masseurs that may find themselves isolated with players in their role. Also notable is the requirement to have approved First Aiders upskilled to meet requirements of a safe environment.

The skills delivered on this course will significantly reduce the potential risk placed on a club in the event of a catastrophic incident involving players or staff. Those appointed medical staff currently practicing without pre-hospital trauma training are potentially at risk. Not just to the club and themselves but also to the well-being of those in their working environment.
